Beige limestones used on the building and decoration sectors have a growing demand and have become quite popular. In Portugal you will find a wide selection of limestone that, due to competitive pricing, availability and good selection.

In this article, we will present you to the most relevant beige limestones from Portugal, which for the past several years have been supplying numerous projects worldwide and are today reference limestones in the market. These are the Top beige limestones from Portugal.

We begin with the Moleanos, which is a Portuguese limestone that is extracted by a dozen quarries located in the area around the village with the same name as the limestone: Moleanos. Moleanos lies at the footsteps of Serra Aires e Candeeiros Natural Park, the most important limestone extraction centre of Portugal.

The Moleanos limestone has a light beige color, presenting fine to medium grain and a very uniform background. It is the color consistency of this limestone that in fact made it so popular. Its main variations depend on grain structure (which can be fine or medium), as well as color (with beige as the most representative variation, but a blue to light grey colored variation also available and with growing demand). Finally, the Moleanos may present a mixed color variation, called the Moleanos Mix, blending beige and blue in the same stone.

Second to the Moleanos comes the Moca Cream limestone, which is today perhaps the most relevant beige limestone from Portugal. Its main variation is the Moca Cream Classic, which is the most on-demand type, presenting a medium grain structure, parallel vein and uniform color. In addition to this variation, there is the cross-cut variation of the Classic type. The other main type is the Moca Cream Fine, which presents a fine grain structure and delicate vein. There are more selections of Moca Cream, but these two are the most relevant in terms of supply and demand.

And finally we have the lesser known players, which despite having less demand, have seen a very large increase in terms of demand. These are the Rosal, which is a beige limestone characterized by its clouded areas, which can present a fine to medium grain structure. The Cabeca Veada, which is today a direct alternative to the Moleanos Fine, presenting fine grain structure, light beige to white color and very uniform structure. Or the Fatima limestone, which is today a popular limestone to be exported in block format to China, where it enjoys great popularity. All these are fantastic beige limestones, with large supply and growing demand.

All of these beige limestones have become reference limestones in the building and decoration sectors, with more or less relevancy. Due to its abundance, good levels of selection and fairly competitive price, these Portuguese beige limestones are stones to considered for future projects for years to come.
